Are your products widely recycled?

We are continuously looking at how we can improve the recyclability of our packaging and have a clear ambition to find sustainable solutions across our entire Activia range. Below you will find a summary of the recyclability of each product at this current moment in time:

Activia Fruit Range: Carboard wrap is widely recyclable in the UK. However, unfortunately our plastic cups aren't currently widely recyclable. We advise you to check your local council recycling policy for more information.

Activia Grains & Nuts: Carboard wrap is widely recyclable in the UK. However, unfortunately our plastic cups aren't currently widely recyclable. We advise you to check your local council recycling policy for more information.

Activia Intensely Creamy: Both the cardboard wrap and plastic cups are widely recycled in the UK. We recommend rinsing the pots prior to recycling.

Activia Breakfast Pots: Pot is currently widely recycled, providing the label has been removed and pot has been rinsed. Unfortunately the plastic spoon, plastic lid and label are not yet widely recycled in the UK.

Does Activia contain gluten?

The majority of the Activia range doesn't contain gluten. The only ranges containing gluten are Activia Breakfast Pots and Activia Grains and Nuts.

As required by law, we always clearly label allergens on all our products, and this information can also be found in the Products section of our website and on many of our retailers' websites.

How do I support the normal functioning of my gut health?

A healthy gut can be defined as a state of physical and mental well-being without gastrointestinal symptoms that require the consultation of a doctor, absence of any disease affecting the gut, and also the absence of risk factors for diseases affecting gut. Many factors impact your gut and your microbiota. Some of these are less controllable, for example C-section, antibiotics, stress, and hygiene. Other factors can be controlled through lifestyle choices, for example eating a balanced diet and having an active lifestyle.

At Activa we believe it is important to eat dairy products as part of a balanced and varied diet. All of our products provide a source of calcium, which supports your gut health, by contributing to the normal function of digestive enzymes.

How do you make yogurt?

First, we prepare a tank of pasteurised milk, which is packed with proteins and also contains lactose. Turns out that lactose is the favourite food of many of our yogurt bacterial strains. Then we add our unique blend of 5 ferments to the milk, to begin the fermentation process.

As we heat the milk to 37°, the bacteria begin to feed on the lactose, which is converted to lactic acid. The bacteria multiply, whilst the lactic acid lowers the pH of the milk; transforming it to a smooth and creamy texture.

The end result? You swallow a mouthful of delicious Activia, packed with billions of bifidus that survive all the way to your colon to meet your gut.

How many calories are there in Activia yogurt?

The amount of calories (the energy value) will vary by product. Please visit our Products page to see the nutritional values of every Activia product.

How many live cultures does Activia contain?

Every Activia product sold in the UK contains billions of live cultures, but often the number is much higher than this. For example, there are 16 billion live cultures in every pot of Activia Fruits and Activia Fruits 00%.

How much Activia is too much?

According to the UK Eatwell Guide, we should eat some milk and dairy (or dairy alternatives) every day, choosing low fat low sugar options. Eating a wide variety of foods is also recommended for a healthy diet.

Activia is a dairy product and is available in a wide range of flavours and formats? so that you can choose the one fitting most to your personal and dietary preferences.

Is Activia suitable for people who are lactose intolerant?

The vast majority of Activia products contain less than 5g of lactose. If you have any doubt according to your specific situation, then please consult your GP.

Is Activia suitable for pregnant women?

Activia is safe for consumption by the whole family (for individuals above 3 years of age) even during periods of pregnancy. All of the milk in our products is pasteurised during the production process. If you have any doubt according to your specific situation, then please consult your GP.

Activia contains a unique blend of 5 ferments: Bifidus ActiRegularis, Streptococcus thermophilus, 2 different strains of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Lactococcus lactis.

What does exclusive live cultures mean?

Live cultures are present in all fermented yogurts and drinks which are not heat processed after fermentation. The live cultures exist in groups, known as ferments. All Activia yogurts and yogurt drinks have a unique blend of 5 ferments, including Bifidus ActiRegularis, which is exclusive to the Activia brand. We carefully select our ferments and make them grow and thrive at the right quantity, to deliver the best possible taste experience.

What does fermented food mean?

Fermentation is the process when bacteria, yeasts or other microorganisms break down sugars and carbohydrates and produce different acids, gasses or alcohol. In our case, this means our unique blend of 5 ferments transforming milk into delicious yogurt.

What is Bifidus ActiRegularis?

Specialists at Danone designed Activia to contain our exclusive Bifidus ActiRegularis. This particular strain was selected for its remarkable ability to survive in milk. In humans, high numbers of Bifidus ActiRegularis have been shown to survive the passage through the entire gastrointestinal tract.

What is the temperature at which yogurt is made?

The fermentation of Activia takes place at 37°C, in a less acidic environment than a traditional yogurt. This enables our billions of live cultures to thrive, creating our deliciously smooth and creamy Activia texture.

Where can I buy Activia?

Activia products can be found in store and online across a number of major retailers, including Tesco, Sainsbury's, ASDA, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-op and Ocado (and some convenience stores).
