Fabulous Fibre

There are two main types of fibre: soluble fibre, which the body can digest, and insoluble fibre, which the body can't digest. Eating a mixture of both types of fibre is great for your digestive health.

Soluble fibre is found in foods like oats, barley, rye, fruits such as apples and bananas, and root vegetables such as carrots and potatoes. Increasing the amount of soluble fibre in your diet and the amount of water you drink can help with symptoms like constipation. Insoluble fibre is found in foods like wholegrain bread, bran flakes, cereals, nuts and most seeds. If you suffer from IBS with diarrhoea, reducing the amount of insoluble fibre you eat can help.
