Playing Frisbee tones your arm and stomach muscles, thanks to all the running about, leaping and throwing, and burns around 450 calories an hour.
To make this exercise even more fun it's great to take the kids, a friend or a dog, but you can also Frisbee solo for a fantastic workout.
To throw the Frisbee, grip it with your thumb on top and your index finger along the rim, and your other fingers underneath. Throw it with your hand moving across your body, flicking your wrist and keeping the Frisbee flat. Keep your stomach taut for a better ab workout.
If you're playing Frisbee solo, you get the best workout of all, as once you've thrown the Frisbee you can race after it – the better your throw, the more intense your workout!
If you get a friend to come with you, increase the intensity by getting your friend to throw the disc slightly above your head so you have to leap up to catch it. Every time it hits the ground, do a 'golfers lift' to pick it up; stand on one foot, with the other leg extended out behind you, and bend your front knee slightly as you hinge forward from the hips. This works the thighs and bottom, and increases core stability.
If you're with a dog, first you have to teach him to catch and fetch a flying disc. You only have to stand in one spot for a few minutes with your dog, while he exercises every muscle in his body and has a lot of fun. Be sure to use quality, 'dog-sturdy' Frisbees.
Aim to play Frisbee for 20 minutes at least once a week.

Hi. I just thought I should tell you that I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I attend my hospital & have infusion treatments every 4 weeks. Therefore, I have to be careful what exercises I can do without doing my joints etc any harm. I do see a psyiotherapist and she is teaching me what little movements I can do at the moment.
