At the start of each and every week (maybe every Sunday night) decide what your goals and actions are and write a ‘to do’ list. Prioritise the actions on your ‘to do’ list and split them into work and personal life, so you can see how balanced your week is looking. Make sure your time is split 70% work and 30% personal life. Try not to tip too often into an 80/20 or 90/10 split. Stick it in a prominent place so you can see it all week and remind yourself what you’d like to be doing. Seeing things you have to do visually rather than having them swimming around in your head is psychologically better for managing and controlling them.
But remember be realistic. Realise that you can’t do everything, so you have to learn to know which of your tasks are the most important and why. Assign days and times to complete your actions by. Keep a detailed diary, time planner or electronic planner to do this and make sure you keep it up to date. This helps you realise how long things take to do, as we can underestimate sometimes in the bid to be Superwoman.

I always do "to do list", but not always able to manage with the whole plan unfortunately. It is easier when everything is in your calendar and then you at least know what has been missed off. Then you can act on it next day etc. It is really helpful.

I really like this idea, as long as you stick to your plan of course! x

The joy of getting through a to-do list! I think this is a really good tip, as for some reason as we get older there is a danger of becoming all about work and no play. Don't let it happen to you, and keep 30% play time no matter what your age :)
